The internet!

Gosh... what kind of world would this be without the Internet?!
So, after the move we had some problems getting it up and running... if ya know what I mean! Just kidding... I'm still talking about the Internet! Man people!
And I wanted to show you some pictures of the kids loving the new house, but without the Internet.... I was almost about to pull my hair out!

I'm happy to report that I still have all my hair and the Internet is up and running just fine!

I'll put some pictures of the house up a little later, but I was too excited to let you all know that we're still alive and kicking round' here!

Christmas was AWESOME! Todd and I did a little too much for them as usual! We always have a blast doing the last minute stuff though. He's so much fun at Christmas time! Especially when we start wrapping presents. Every year he transforms into "Tape Man"! A role that he takes to the extreme! When I look at all those presents that have to be wrapped, he makes me smile!

I'm so thankful to live here where we have such good friends and family! I hope you all had the best Christmas ever!

I have the craziest and funnest friends in the world! And for that reason alone.... we're staying forever!!!! Even though I can't even compete with their mounds of talents! I'm just gonna pretend like I fit in!

Bath Time!

We made cupcakes...
I turned around after putting them in the oven
to bake, to see this....
I started the tub,
put Haley in
Came back for Sophie
and
She wasn't quite ready for the tub just yet.
But hey.... we got our kitchen cabinets installed!
That was pretty exciting!

So.....we got that going for us.
And for those of you who are worried about Todd....
He's feeling a ton better!
He's going to live, believe it or not!
I'll post some pictures of his recient adventures soon!
But, eat lunch BEFORE you read about him...
just a warning.

Haley's contest is on!

And once again......
She is making Banana Bread!
If I had a nickle......
Haley loves to bake and as soon as we're done baking....
she wants to make something else.
If she could live in the kitchen, she would!
And she didn't get to make the peanut butter squares with me
for my little contest the other day.
So, today she said she wants to make banana bread for her own contest!
How cute is this little Pumpkin Head?!
So if you want some of Haley's Famous Banana Bread....
Be one of the first 3 to leave a comment and you win!!!
Ready? Set? GO!!!

I forgot to mention that she makes her banana bread with oat flour and flaxseed flour!
Yea.....it's actually good for you!
And some of the loafs have cranberries in them!
You choose...... with or without.
Pay no attention to the over crowded counters....there's no room for anything in this kitchen!
And that's homemade lemonade in the blender behind her! She's a wonder!

Peanut Butter Squares

Wow! I'm so flattered that you all want my recipe, thus......

Peanut Butter Squares
2 Cups powdered sugar
1 Cup butter, softened
1 Cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 3/4 Cups graham cracker crumbs
1 Cup chopped peanuts (I used a mix of nuts...especially almonds!)
1 package (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 Cup peanut butter

Line square pan, 9x9x2 inches, with aluminum foil. Mix powdered sugar, butter, 1 Cup peanut butter and vanilla in large bowl. Stir in graham cracker crumbs and peanuts. (Mixture will be stiff) Press in pan.

Heat Chocolate chips and 1/4 Cup peanut butter over low heat, stirring frequently, until smooth. Spread over bars. Refrigerate 1 hour or until chocolate is set. Remove squares, along with foil, from pan. Fold foil back to cut squares. Refrigerate any remaining squares.
36 squares.

And then I got a whole other pan dirty and melted some white chocolate with a little more peanut butter to drizzle on the top! And now this recipe is mine and not Betty Crock-who's?

And I wanted to quick and tell you guys to take a peek at my friends new blog. It's in my fun sites section below.
Top of the list called

And the winner is......

Drum Roll Please!

The winner is Karen Bergeson!

So, that particular night didn't go as I had planned. I thought I would get a lot farther than I did, but you know..... things happen, and kids throw off the best laid plans!

Ok, so I read to page 54 that night! I know, pathetic!

Anyway, we had a ton of fun doing this contest! And I wish I didn't double the recipe because we may have gained a few pounds too. But holy cow, I love me some peanut butter squares! YUM!

Warning:
If you haven't read the "Twilight" series don't read this post!
(I don't know what's up with this post, but it decided to cram all my pictures and words all together.....sorry.)

Here's what I've been doing the past 10 days!....

Ooooooo, this book is good!

Ok!.... It's really good! What a cutie that Edward is!!!

Book 2
Nooooooooo! Edward don't go!

Where the CRAP is Edward?! Sniff, sniff...

Oh My Gosh! He's alive! They're kissing...sigh, I can breath again!

Oh their getting married! How exciting....if she wasn't such a moron about it anyway!

Book 3

What the.............!? Hello?! Let's see..... Edward or Jake?!
It's a NO brainer!

SHUT UP! Are you serious? If she goes over to Jacob's one more time.... I'm throwing this book away! Bella you DOINK!

Huuuuuaaaa! I'm glad Jake heard that! ..... No, don't go get him... He's a loser! Let him howl and cry, who cares!?

Noooooo! Don't kiss him! Oh my gosh! I'm gonna vomit! Oh sick! I'm seriously gonna vomit!
Why didn't someone warn me this was going to happen?!
YUCK!
So, I just finished book 3 and I'm not feeling like reading book 4. But, I will. So let's have a little competition!
I'm gonna read as much as I can today and by 12:00 midnight. I'll make a note of what page I'm on. You have to guess what page I'll end up on by then. Ok? And your prize?...... Yummy Home Made Cookies!

OK, OK! Get of my back....... I'm doing it ok?

Yes! It's official............... I am reading "Twilight". Are you happy?!
Those of you who know me know that I just don't like books that are written in first person.....thus....... no "Twilight" for me.
But, I've decided to give it another go. Aaaaaaand.......ok I love it! Ok? Geesh!
You can all stop praying for my soul now. I've seen the light.......of dear Edwards eyes! And I apologize if I've offended any of you by waiting this long to partake. (oh I'm full of puns today!)

You're so Lucky

So today, a friend of mine told me that she wished they would have rented and built their home so that they could get exactly what they wanted. I can see her point, obviously because that's what we did. And we've had several comments like that from people thinking we are so smart to take our time to get exactly what we want, but I have to say......... living in an apartment with 4 kids.... really SUCKS! So, if you're in any way wallowing about something small and stupid while you live in your nice comfy home, here is a list of things that I miss dearly! I hope it makes you feel super lucky to be you!

1. I miss having kitchen counters. We have none, in fact there is no where to even put a dirty dish, it has to be put in the dishwasher right away.

2. I miss letting my kids take turns dancing right before prayers at night. There is absolutely not room once we've all gathered in a circle on the floor. And sometimes Haley tries to do her usually dance and it makes me sad to stop her because we don't have any room.

3. Brace yourself..... Grocery shopping is a HUGE pain! We park in the parking lot, grab as many bags as we can, walk down the sidewalk, turn... go down more sidewalk, set the bags down while I open the gate....I kick the gate open, set the bags down again, I unlock the door, pick up my bags kick open the door and then......lucky me..... I get to do it all over again till' all the groceries are brought in! Fun huh?!

4. We have to walk or drive all our garbage bags to the big dumpster. Do you have any idea how much garbage a family of 6 can produce just in one day?! So the next time you complain about having to take it out to the GARAGE!!!!...... think of me!!!!

5. Here's the best one..... The absolute weirdest odor is coming from somewhere in our Master Bathroom! We have scoured and scrubbed, bleached and sprayed! But, to our ever lovin' dismay..... we cannot get rid of it! How disgusting is that?! I know!!!! I read a story about an ex-wife that hid meat in her house before she gave it over to her husband.... I'm seriously thinking this is the work of a disgruntled former renter!!!!! And that really happened to my sister in law Robyn! Tell em' Rob.

Pray for me! I might not make it to December!

Sisters are the Best Friends

One thing that really breaks poor little Haley's heart is when Abby or Hayden get invited to a Birthday party without her. Her dream is to be invited to a Birthday Party. She talks about it all the time. Since we don't live by family and we haven't really lived by any friends her age.... she's never been invited to a Birthday Party. And where do you think Abby went today? To a Birthday Party! Haley cried and cried to Abby to please take her, but Abby tried to explain that it was just a party for her. So after the party, Abby asked if I would take her to Southlands mall so she could get Haley a little gift to make her feel better. Isn't that cute? She knew just where she wanted to go.... Claires. She is such a sweet big sister! She picked out the cutest necklaces for her sisters. They have a "BF" on each that stands for, obviously "Best Friends". And three bracelets. One says "Best" one says "Friends" and the third says "Forever"!
I think Abigayle is the sweetest and best big sister in the whole world!!! And needless to say.... so does Haley! She was so excited just to have Abigayle home that she came running outside to greet her! In spite of her jealously, she wanted to hear all about the party. And as if the necklaces and bracelets weren't enough. Abby spent the rest of her precious baby sitting money at "The Children's Place" getting her new PJ's and a plush robe! So that the two of them could have a Pajama Party that night!
I can't even tell you how proud I am of my kids! And tonight..... especially Abby! She's so thoughtful and kind to her siblings. We couldn't ask for a better little girl! She's my little angel! I'm even more impressed with her when I consider the fact that she was super tired after the party because they went swimming and obviously had a huge blast, but she still thought about her sad little sister back home waiting on pins and needles to hear all about the party!

Happy Birthday Uncle Juan & Grandpa!

This is our very own Uncle Juan! I bet you wish you had one too. Well, I don't think my kids will share him with ya so, sorry suckers! This birthday was a big one for him, he's......... 29 again!
I know, he doesn't look that old huh?!
Some fun stuff about our Uncle Juan or Uncawun as my girls say, is that he is from Puerto Rico! Thus, far more exotic than the rest of us! He use to be an awesome dancer in his youth! And you'd never recognize him in his photos. He was a skinny little thing!!! No..... I mean bean pole! I wonder if he maybe twirled so hard that he start do lift off the ground like a helicopter?! "Keep your arms down, Juan!..... Come back Juan, come back!" I'm sure it went a little something like that!
He served a mission in ID! Well, its more or less a huge disappointment if someone from UT gets that call, but to a skinny little dancer from Puerto Rico..... "ALLELUIA!...... Yes!.... Idaho!" He had to leave his heathen rice days behind him and start eating potato's! mmmmmm.
At the birthday dinner Grandpa and Dad made pretend birthday candels for Sophie to blow down! She sure was a sick little thing, but this made her cheer up immediately! Grandpa's so smart.
And this is Grandpa! The kids have loved having him here in CO! It makes their move from UT seem a little better knowing that Grandpa and Grandma are coming out here too! Now we just need to work on Auntie Robyn and Uncle Jeff and our little Haag cup will runneth over!
Some great things about Grandpa are that he is a walking dictionary and encyclopedia. Don't think that he doesn't know something because he will prove you wrong. He could probably go on Jeopardy and win the whole thing! Or "Who wants to be a millionaire". Either or he'll have to share the winnings with me!
He loves the scouting program and is an expert for Hayden to go to when he has questions. I'm sure Jarod will know just who to ask when he's in scouts.
Dad says Grandpa's favorite saying growing up was "work first, get it done...play last, you'll have more fun!" The kids think it's annoying.
Another thing that Grandpa gave us is the Church. When he was young his little sister died and it was very devastating to their family. She was only 3 years old. But, because of her death their family took a trip to the Worlds Fair. And there they met missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Later day saints. Well you can all guess the rest. And thanks to those missionaries and the events that led up to meeting them. We have a very blessed life! Life might be very different for his kids and grandkids, had he not joined the church.

See her puffy eyes? She's had a fever for two days! And.... poor thing she swells up just like her Mom!
Come Monday...... Haley will be very sad. That's when Grandma flies back to "Nutah"! And we won't hear the end of it for weeks! The second that Grandma got here Haley was complaining about her having to leave again! I'll just make a life size cardboard cut out of her to stick in the corner of her room!

Does anyone have a rocket ship we can borrow?

Today while picking Abby and Hayden up from school, I put a movie on for the girls to watch so that I can read my book. That I love by the way. Its called "Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell". Anyway, I knew that Haley, being the tom boy that she is would love "Toy Story". She probably doesn't remember it, but I'm sure she's seen it before. So, I put it on and I told her she'll love it! So, as the movie is going and I'm off to England in the 1800's. I notice strange noises coming from the back of the car. Haley is jumping and wooshing as Buz Lightyear is introduced to the story. I just thought to myself..."She must really like this movie."
A little while later I'm ripped back into the year 2008 with a small little voice whispering in my ear "Mom, I want to go into space. Could I use your rocket ship?" I smiled at her and explained that I don't have one. But, she looked so innocent and cute and she asked with such faith, that I couldn't break it to her that she couldn't go up in space. So, I quickly added "let's ask Abby and Hayden if they made one at school today. Maybe they will let us borrow it." She pressed her face to the window and watched intently for them.

A little while later, Abby and Hayden got in the car. So I said "Hey guys, did either of you make a rocket ship today? Haley wants to go into outer space. " Catching on quickly they both apologized to her saying "Darn it, not today."

For the rest of the ride home she went on and on to Abby about all the things she was going to do on the other planets. And then like the greatest epiphany, she exclaimed "Dad can make me one! Yes, Dad can make me the biggest rocket ship and I'll fly to the other planets."

We waited for Dad to get home and she asked him the same question that has filled her thoughts since about 2:15. But, of course he had no rocket ship for her.

She wasn't depressed, but her family was definitely letting her down. She wanted to call Grandma right then and there and borrow her rocket ship that was back in "Nutah".
We dropped the kids off at Achievement days and scouts, went to go look at the new roof that our house has, went back to pick up the kids and ..... what's this? Is it a dream?.......Big Brother Hayden...... what a guy!!!! He got in the car with non other that a new rocket ship! Of course it was a little small but, he assured her that as soon as he figures it out..... he's gonna make her a big one someday!
The whole night and even throughout family prayer, she had decided to be an astronaut when she grows up! I haven't seen her this excited about anything for a long time!

Garden of the Gods

So, we finally had some fun this weekend! Stupid, stupid, stupid Colorado weather men! They said that this weekend would be riddled with flash flooding... and ..... Didn't see any!!!! So, yesterday we went to The Garden of the Gods! It was soooooo breath taking! The kids had so much fun. My little scampers are climbers...... thus this was the perfect place to go!
After postponing our plans for three days.... we finally got a clue that they must have meant "Phantom" flash floods! So we took our chances and look!.... The sky was beautiful!
And the best is going anywhere that Haley thinks is fun! She is so funny and cute! She can just say the best "off the wall" things when you least expect it! For example, we found a snake and she told Sophie to stay back because it will eat her! (The snake was about 5 inches long)
I'm really loving the "Smile box" thing lately. So if you're tired of em' you can skip it!
But for the die hard Haag fans.... here ya go!

It wasn't like any Botanical Garden I've been to, but the people there assured me that the one in Denver is more traditional. This one is like a long walk on a country road. Which was great for me because it reminded me of home. The kids liked it too. I just wish there were more flowers.

Memory Tag!

MEMORIES!

Tag!
Here's the drill (This one's kind of interesting...)

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.

If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

She Did It!

Well, she did it! Sophie use to be so afraid of the swing, in fact she would fuss and arch her back and scream! While Haley would just pull faces at her that would say "what are you crazy? Its a swing!" So, every time we would go to the the park I would make her sit in the swing, motionless for a few minutes. And then.... one day.... she didn't cry. So, I pushed her a little and she started to say in a shaky scared tone, "It's fun? It's fun, Momma?" And I'd tell her "Yes, its fun!" She'd cry after a while, but it was still a HUGE break through for her!
So, last Sunday Todd put her in the swing and let her sit there for a minute and then the EVIL Abigayle came and pushed her! We waited for her to cry, but there was no cry! YEA! But, we still yelled at poor Abigayle like she was beating her with a stick! Ok, well we thought Sophie was going to regress! But, to our surprise and hers....... she's still ALIVE! (Sophie I mean! Abigayle's doing fine too!)

She loves to swing now! Well, for a few minutes at a time anyway!
Who knew the swing would be such a hard trial to over come!?

If there is anything Haley can do, its Bake with Momma! And at the top of her list is Banana Bread! She loves to make it and she knows the recipe by heart! She counts the bananas for me and gets the flour, sugar, eggs, baking soda, vanilla, hand mixer, rubber spatula, ladle, pam, and my loaf pans out! She's one smart cookie..... or "nana bread"! Her favorite thing is to crack the eggs all by herself! And she's good too. Hayden has tried and he gets shell in the batter. So, Haley says "No Hayden... like this!" This time though she was really cute! She said "Dad sure will be proud of me to make the "nana bread"!" She just loves her Dad and she cries everyday when he leaves. It breaks her heart! Personally I don't see what the big deal is! ok.... he's pretty great! Anyway, he came home and told her it was the best "nana bread" ever. Her face lit up and she explained the whole process that she went through just for his "nana bread". We usually make a ton so if you want some ....... just ask.

Dragon magic or Fairy magic?

We love Barns and Noble! And so what else is new right?! Ok, I admit it... we live there! My kids all love it, but especially my little Haley Bella Boo! She loves the "book store"! And the other day when we were leaving, I told her she could have magic chocolate if she was good. Well, she thinks that magic chocolate is something that can only be bought at Borders book store. Well, we don't live by Borders any more so, I've been trying to convince her that they sell magic chocolate at Barns and Noble as well...... I promise! (By the way, she thinks that the chocolate from Borders makes her uncontrollably happy! And though a placebo it may be, it works!) So, as we placed our tall tower of books on the counter to make our purchases, the clerk walked back toward the register. Loading up the question with "hint, hint". I asked the man if this chocolate here, (I pointed with my wide eyes) was magical! He obviously got the hint because he said catching my hint, "Why yes it is!". And at that moment, he somehow threw tons of sparkling rainbow confetti all around Haley and the chocolate! If I had a camera..... her face was priceless! she was in total awe! So, we all wow-ed and ooo-ed! She finally picked the dragon magic chocolate! And she's been talking about getting more ever since! It was a pretty cool day! Just what she needed!
Oh! And she was as strong as a dragon for hours!

So you think you can dance?

Well, my little dancers had their recital! They all did awesome! I thought for sure that Haley would just freeze, but to our surprise.... she smiled and danced away! She had three different dances and she did so wonderful in all of them! We are so proud of her! She's a wonderful little girl.... my little sweet heart!
Hayden was anothoer one that I thought might be a deer in the headlights. But, he put his cool face on and started to street dance like no-body's business! He even had a little solo that got lot's of screams! I guess he's one hot dancer!
Abby was another one that had three dances. And she was brilliant in each one! But, of course Abby is an old pro at this recital stuff by now! I think she's bored with it all though.
We're so proud of all three of them! It was a stressful, but wonderful to watch them perform!

Family Visit

Ted and Melyssa (my niece and her husband) and their kids came for a visit this week end! We didn't get to see as much of them as we'd like, but it was still fun. We played the famous music game that Todd and I created! We call it "The Game". It was fun, even though I definitely didn't win. I have to say that Tedd did pretty good. So, did Nick (my nephew that lives here in CO), but Melyssa?..... Not so much. Love ya Melyssa!

We also went out to eat at Maggiano's. I'll never forget the look on Tedd's face when he looked at the size of Melyssa's meal! It did look like they wanted her to eat out of a tub! That was a lot of food! We're so glad for the visit! Hopefully it won't be too long until we see them again!
